Special Classroom Events/Projects:
Parents: All of my students will receive progress reports this week so that you will be aware of the progress of your son/daughter. If your son/daughter brings it back signed by you, he/she will receive bonus points for their efforts. You should also have access to Skyward which is our online grade book. Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have during the year and I will get back with you as soon as possible. If you choose to email, please put your son/daughter's name in the subject line so that I can forward your email through our district's spam filter.
Students will have an assessment this week involving literary devices.
We will assess one TAKS objective each week so that we can see where weaknesses occur within the curriculum and address those weaknesses effectively. The assessments will either contain 6-10 multiple choice questions over the objective taught or a short answer response. If they score below 60% on an assessment, I will be asking them to come by for tutorials so that we can work on the questions they missed. The tutorials are mandatory and will result in raising their assessment grade to 70%.
Tutorials are held Monday, Wednesday &Thursday of this week at 1:35.
We will continue working with literary devices this week as well as working on the TAKS literary short answer response. We will talk about close reading so they understand what they are looking for in terms of reading critically and analytically.
Freshman class dues $25.00 will need to be paid to either Coach McTee or Mr. Jordan before the end of the school year.
